The Samsung Jet is a touchscreen mobile phone with powerful internet functionality. The Jet features built in HSDPA connectivity for a high speed web connection equivalent to home broadband. This new mobile broadband technology allows the S8000 Jet to reach download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps which is fast enough to stream music and video from popular sites such as YouTube with the Jet also featuring Flash support. The Samsung Jet also features Wi-Fi connectivity in addition to the on board HSDPA. When in a Hotspot or accessing a wireless network, users can benefit from a cheaper (even free) connection and faster connection speed. Wi-Fi hotspots are found in a range of different public places from hotels and airports to Starbucks and McDonalds restaurants.
Great for downloads, the Samsung S8000 Jet also allows users to surf the web with the built in Dolfin web browser. Much like on a dedicated PC or laptop, the Jet’s web browser can save bookmarks, favourites, remember information such as passwords for logins and check browsing history. Up to 5 windows can be opened at once and the Jet’s address bar is multi-functional also acting as a Google search bar and as a tool to search for specific text on a web page. Pages load quickly and show an overview which can then zoom in or out to get a better view of web pages. The Jet also offers one touch access to social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. The Samsung Jet also supports email and push email which forwards emails from a designated account straight to the phone similar to how an SMS text message is received.
