Providing free navigation maps now become a strategy to boost Nokia cell phone sales. Nokia announced the availability of Ovi Maps for free on the Nokia site.
“This step has a potential to increase to twice the market sales of mobile navigation devices,” official Nokia statement, released Thursday (1/21/2010). Canalys research estimates that by 2009 there were 27 million GPS devices users and Ovi Maps availability can increase the number of users to 50 million people.
There are 10 types of new Nokia handsets that can enjoy this navigation application ; Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini, E72, E55, E52, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, and Nokia 5230. However, Next time this application basically works on any Nokia phones with Symbian S60 operating system and will be bundled in GPS ready-Nokia products were released next March 2010
